LOBO IV

LOBO IV started out in October 1994. At the outset it was Fabian Maltos (Accordion), David Lopez (Percussion) and Mike Olivarri (Bajo Sexto). From October 1994 to January 1995 we auditioned a few bass players but without any luck. By chance Fabian spotted Paul Sanchez (Bass) playing at a gig and asked him to come audition for the band.

Paul's audition went well. However, Paul decided to stay with his current group. So, back to the bass player search. We auditioned a few more guys but, "no dice".

By July 1995, Paul called us back and LOBO IV was set. We spent the next 5 months practicing 3 nights a week and all day on Saturdays.

In November 1995 we began recording demo tracks and set out to get ourselves signed with a record label. By chance we had gone to Corpus Christi to meet with a potential Manager and stopped by Q-Productions. We explained who we were and were asked for a demo of our music.

By January of 1996 we were in the studio recording what would become LOBO IV - Indomable. We began playing gigs anywhere and everywhere--Clubs, Festivals, Weddings, QuinceƱeras, etc... Indomable was released via EMI Latin October 1996.

By the end 1997 we began recording LOBO IV - Tu Carcel, and it was released in 1998. We received a lot of great feedback for the CD, and the CD provided the band some additional fan base.

At the beginning of 1999, we added Michael Machado (Percussion) to LOBO IV. He was a good addition to the group. On various songs Michael and David would switch off on the drums, and it added additional style and flavor to the group.

In June 1999, Paul Sanchez left the group to take care of personal matters in his life. It was tough on the band however, we continued to move forward. Paul was replaced by Ruben Lopez.

Toward the end of 1999 we began working on music for our 3rd CD. Paul rejoined the band in January 2000, and it was good to have him back. However, it was short lived.

In February 2000 we decided to take a break. The toll of being a professional band often clashes with personal and family life.

In July 2007, after years of contemplation we decided to put LOBO IV back together. We realized how important our music was to us and to our fans. It is rewarding to know that we still have fans even after such a long break. We look forward to performing again and meeting fans both old and new.
